Apple recognizes that some of its iPhone 7 and 7 Plus under iOS 11.3 suffer from an audio bug

The speaker and microphone of some iPhone 7 and 7 Plus running the latest version of iOS would not work on phone calls or FaceTime. Apple admits there is a problem.

New bug for version 11.3 (and later) of Apple's mobile operating system. After problems of blocking "unofficial" screens under iOS 11.3 (corrected in iOS 11.3.1), the latest version of the operating system would penalize users of iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. According to the MacRumors website, Apple admitted in a document sent to its authorized repairers (and retrieved by MacRumors) that some users may experience microphone and speaker problems during phone calls or FaceTime. An announcement that confirms the veracity of messages posted by some users on Twitter or Reddit in recent months.

From bug to audio diagnosis

The problem is that the speaker icon is dimmed on the smartphone screen during calls. Impossible then to activate, but also impossible to be heard from his interlocutor. The microphone would also be cut.
If so, Apple recommends disconnecting all Bluetooth devices and other audio accessories from their iPhone to see if this fixes the problem. If it persists, customers are invited to go to the store to make an audio diagnosis of their device.
Also according to the MacRumors website, if your iPhone 7 or 7 Plus is no longer under warranty, the repair service could request the support of the repair exceptionally. The site also states that some authorized repairers may not be aware of this problem that does not affect all iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. It may be necessary then to be insistent so that the repair is gratuitous.
