Chrome now learns which videos to block based on your browsing habits

Google is refining its fight against videos that automatically launch in Chrome. The browser will learn which media sites you like to filter out which ones are really undesirable.

Google continues its crusade against autoplay videos on the Web. Publishers have generalized this practice of automatically launching video playback. This has the gift of annoying the users of Chrome. "A significant number of autoplays are paused, muted or their tabs are closed within six seconds," observes Google.
As a result, the company started blocking autoplay videos that did not turn off the default sound since the release of Chrome 66 last April. She now wants to refine her policy and details today how she proceeds in a post.

If you do not have a browsing history, Chrome allows autoplay by default on more than 1,000 sites where the browser has found that a high number of visitors read media files with sound.
Depending on your browsing, this list will change because Chrome will learn your habits and activate the automatic playback on multimedia sites that you plebiscite, to personalize your experience.

Users are sometimes asked to click on "read", but on average, Google advertises about half of the unwanted autoplays. This new policy is at work in the latest version of Chrome launched this May 3rd.
