LG G7 ThinQ: this smartphone promises stereo speakers with ultra powerful sound

On Wednesday, May 02, 2018, LG will unveil its next flagship G7 ThinQ. The manufacturer intends to make the difference through the screen, the camera but also the stereo speakers of his smartphone.

Difficult for LG to stay in the very competitive smartphone market. At Barcelona's MWC 2018, the South Korean brand shyly introduced the LG V30s, a slightly improved version of its large-format V30 smartphone released a few months earlier. Since then, LG has confirmed the launch of the G6 successor, the G7 ThinQ, which will be presented on May 2nd.
According to the latest rumors, the smartphone would follow the trend of the notch launched by the Essential Phone and popularized by the iPhone X Apple. The screen in 19: 9 format would reach, according to LG and thanks to its Super Bright technology, a brightness of 1000 cd / m2, a record. Add that the LCD panel could exceed 6 inches and enjoy a QHD + definition. In terms of performance, the G7 ThinQ would integrate the latest Qualcomm processor: the Snapdragon 845, coupled with 4 GB of RAM.

Powerful stereo speakers

In a statement, LG now formalizes the integration of a home technology for audio, called "Boombox Speaker". The latter, which turns the smartphone into a real sound box, is supposed to increase the basic sound level by more than 6 db and double the bass. The goal is to sufficiently amplify the sound, so that the user does not have to go through an external speaker to enjoy his playlists. And for those who are confined to the use of headphones, the G7 also integrates for the first time a sound DTS: X 3D Surround supposed to restore 7.1 sound even with a regular headset.

Audio, new selling point?

LG is not the first to make an effort on the sound quality of its devices. For example, we could mention HTC's BoomSound technology, the Razer Phone and its two stereo speakers on the front or, more recently, Samsung and its Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 +.
However, the vast majority of consumers use headphones instead to listen to music, watch videos or play games on their smartphones. But if manufacturers start to improve the internal speakers of their products, our uses may well begin to evolve.
