In recent months, a rumor signed Ming-Chi Kuo, the very serious analyst KGI (which has just announced its departure), predicted the arrival of a new MacBook Air cheaper and Retina for the second quarter of 2018 According to the latest information from Digitimes, the device would be a little late.

Starting from $ 799?

But this bad news to confirm would be accompanied by good news. While we waited for this future MacBook Air 2018 to 999 dollars, it could be even more competitive. Apple would have revised its objectives, lowering the price of the device to 899 dollars or $ 799 according to sources in the production of the device. The goal: Boost MacBook sales by 10% and attack Chromebooks with a particularly competitive price.

Equipped with a Retina display and an Intel processor of last generation, the future MacBook Air would nevertheless suffer from design difficulties. Digitimes says it does not know the exact reason, but indicates that some Apple partners suspect that components such as processors are causing the delay.
