Hacked, the Nintendo Switch already makes Ubuntu 18.04 work!

Always faster, hackers are exploring all the ways to hack the Switch and have already installed the latest version of Ubuntu. Before more sensitive hacks for Nintendo?

A barely hacked console, a new version of GNU / Linux barely announced: and now, you get a Nintendo Switch that runs Ubuntu 18.04, as relays OMGUbuntu. The bug of the Nvidia Tegra X1 processor discovered by the hacker fail0verflow has allowed the latter to override the protection of the portable console and install a version of Linux about operational - which is not a first, but the speed of the transition to the new version of Ubuntu commands respect.

If things like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or hardware acceleration do not work (again), the system seems stable and the touchpad looks quite functional. This opens the door to many uses ... like emulation. Indeed, once the problems of drivers solved, the Switch seems a grail of the emulation of old games with its large 7 inch touch screen and its integrated controls. If the number of Linux applications compiled for ARM processors is currently low (there are many differences between Android, which is a variant of Linux, and a "real" Linux), this limit can easily be exceeded through the work of a few enthusiasts.

And since the Nvidia processor flaw is impossible to patch, hackers will not even have to play the game of cat and mouse with Nintendo. The future of Switch hacking seems bright, which will not necessarily please Nintendo.
