HP Unveils New Envy PCs and Integrates Alexa, Amazon's Assistant

Six new references are coming into HP's Envy range. The American makes some cosmetic adjustments, boosts his machines and even offers Alexa, the assistant of Amazon, in one of them.

HP is renewing its range of Envy computers, machines sandwiched between the Pavilion and the Specter. The manufacturer unveils not one but six machines: two laptops, two convertibles and two all-in-one.

Note that, for the moment, HP France has not yet been able to tell us if all would be available in France, in which configuration (s) and at what price (s).

The traditional Envy are the big difference

HP begins by giving a boost to his classic Envy. The first is the 13.3-inch ultraportable flagship - Envy 13 - and the second, a 17.3-inch laptop. This one is a newcomer and bears the sweet name of Envy 17.

With its metal case and 13.3-inch screen (non-touch, Full HD or 4K) whose side edges have been reduced by 31%, the device has a new design (redesigned hinge) and comes in two colors (silver or gold).

AMD at the helm!

Let's move on to convertibles. We mentioned above, there are two of them, the Envy x360 13 and 15. Like all good hybrids that respect, these Envy offer a touch screen mounted on a hinge allowing it to perform a complete turn around the keyboard. The use of the machine is therefore possible in several positions, classic, tablet, tent mode (inverted V) or stand (the keyboard serving as support).

HP decides to release a version of its x360 13 powered processor AMD Ryzen 7 with Radeon Vega Graphics. Chips released last year and which are APU type, that is to say they embark on the same circuit as computing hearts that a more powerful graphics than what Intel offers in its solutions.

Unfortunately, at the moment, we do not have much information on this new x360. Its thickness is given for 1.49 cm, its weight for 907 grams and its autonomy is announced until 11 hours. No information on the amount of memory or type of storage (SSD or 1.8mm hard drive?) Is communicated. The price, on the other hand, is given starting from 760 dollars for an availability in May.

The 15-inch version of the Envy x360 is available - Intel or AMD version. In one case, the 8th generation chips (and a Nvidia 3D card) or the Ryzen mentioned above are in the maneuver. The storage solutions evoked by HP are multiple: SSD and / or hard disk and even the Optane of Intel.

The touch screen offers a definition Full HD or 4K a priori and it is of course possible to use a stylus to take notes. Even though, on a 15.6-inch, autonomy is not necessarily a decisive purchase criterion, HP is careful to specify that it can reach 12:45 at best.

The manufacturer says that the AMD version will be sold from 750 dollars against 870 dollars for the first configuration in Intel. Again, the month of May is announced for availability, in the United States of course.

Two all-in-one designs including an Alexa doped

Latest product announced, the Envy Curved AiO 34 is the first all-in-one in the world to ship Alexa, the personal assistant of Amazon. In fact, it is mostly a new version of the existing machine, whose screen (3440 by 1440 pixels) is slightly curved, and who takes advantage of this update to see his foot or his finish change slightly . The configuration is also updated, with the latest Intel and Nvidia components.

However, HP gives here neither price nor availability and as long as Alexa is not officially deployed in France, there is still less chance to see this beautiful machine arrive in our country.


Devoid of Alexa, the other all-in-one announced is a 27-inch declination of the Envy 34. The slab (1440p or 4K) is non-curved. This machine should be available this month, starting at 1400 dollars. The engine, it is ensured by the latest Intel and Nvidia components.

As soon as HP France has communicated to us the availability and prices in euros (or configurations, let's be crazy!) Of all these new machines, we will not fail to add them to this article.
