The Apple TV App could include subscriptions to video services

Instead of letting its users subscribe on a case by case basis to third-party applications, Apple would like to centralize everything from its own multimedia application.

While we are still waiting for Apple to launch its own video streaming service, the brand would consider ramping up the Apple TV App. Launched in France last December, it provides access to all its devices in the video catalog of Apple and also to that of multiple other services such as OCS, Molotov, Amazon Prime or MyCanal. But it was necessary until now to subscribe one by one each of the paid content through a third application.

Apple would like to remedy this by centralizing all subscriptions. A welcome simplification for the user who would not go out of the Apple TV App to search, pay and watch content. And a future money saving for the company that would receive a commission on subscriptions. A change that will not occur until next year.

A strategy modeled on Amazon?

All this information is advanced by Bloomberg who believes that Apple has no choice but to increase the revenue generated by content and services like Apple Music and iCloud, as the growth of the sale of iPhone slows down. A strategy similar to that of Amazon that already allows, through its Channels program, to add subscriptions from Prime Video. If Apple is still a major player in the video market with iTunes, it missed the explosion of unlimited streaming that made the success of Netflix. There is still no question of including the latter in the catalog of the Apple TV App.
