The next iPhone could (finally) recharge quickly

To believe a rumor, to take with tweezers, Apple could deliver serial chargers with its next smartphones that will recharge them much faster. Almost as fast as Android competition?

With their glass back, the iPhone 8, 8 Plus and X jumped from both feet in wireless charging. A novelty expected but the interest ultimately quite limited since we realized that, unsurprisingly, induction charging was much slower than its conventional wired equivalent.

Another problem, even connected to their AC adapter, iPhone charge more slowly than the competition. Much more slowly The fastest at the time, the OnePlus 5 was refueling in 1h27 against 3h for the 8 Plus.

But all of this may soon be nothing more than a bad memory. According to MacRumors and an unidentified Chinese source but a priori close to the production lines, the next iPhone, expected next September, could be delivered with a USB-C power adapter and a USB-C to Lightning that allow a faster recharge of their battery.

The new adapter would display a power of 19 W against 5W currently for A1400 models. According to the source, quoted by MacRumors, this charger should allow to reach 50% of charge in the space of thirty minutes. The 80% would be at the rendezvous after one hour. A charging rate that can currently be achieved using one of the MacBook / MacBook Pro chargers compatible with the fast charging of iPhone 8, 8 Plus and X.
The arrival of this new charger would be good news. It would avoid users in a hurry to have to spend 25 euros for the USB-C cable to Lightning (exclusive from Apple for now) and 59 euros for the USB-C 29W power adapter.

To achieve the performance of the best Android smartphones, it will however that the iPhone also evolve a little and allow their battery to refuel faster. If these rumors prove, it is possible that we observe their first event with the new iPad Pro that could see their charger finally exceed 12 W. Because the autonomy in everyday life, it is not only the time spent between two charges, it is the freedom to reload quickly to leave without constraint.
