The Nintendo NES Classic Mini returns ... in June

After a brief shortage shortly after its first release in late 2016, the NES Mini is back this summer.

The return in 2016 of the Famicom - or NES in the West - was a solid one. So much so that the stock of this new miniaturized edition quickly broke down. For those who have not managed to get their hands on it, Nintendo has announced that the cult console would benefit from a second edition.
Exhausted in November 2016, it will be back on June 29 and should, according to the Kyoto firm, be available throughout the year 2018, alongside its little sister no less popular, the SNES Classic. Nostalgia is a chord with gamers. For those who grew up with this legendary console, hard to resist. In fact Nintendo claimed, some time ago, have sold 5 million units of SNES Classic which too, soon found out of stock.

Nintendo and nostalgia

This announced return of the NES mini will occur just months before the launch of Nintendo Switch Online, the company's online service. Scheduled for September, it should bring some new features on the multiplayer side. It will also give access to some "old" titles distilled over time, but it will not rely on an online download store as previously on the Wii and Wii U to replay the oldest games. The Switch will have no virtual console to accommodate a retro toy library on his machine.

Price and availability

Recall that the NES Mini will be sold at the unchanged price of 59.99 dollars. First announced by the US subsidiary for June 29, its arrival in Europe should correspond to the same dates and be formalized soon. Another novelty, a Famicom Mini special edition Manga was unveiled. Dragon Ball or The Knights of the Zodiac will make their entries for 7980 yen but only in Japan.
