Windows 10: the April 2018 Update is available, here's how to get it quickly

The new version of Windows 10 brings new features for the management of privacy and the recovery of old activities. It can be downloaded manually.

Every 6 months, Microsoft offers a major update to Windows 10 that adds new features to the operating system. After the Fall Creators Update, launched last October, here is the April 2018 update (April 2018 Update) which is the new name of Spring Creators Update. This update will be deployed progressively on PCs with Windows 10 because Microsoft favors the most recent machines first to avoid possible compatibility problems.

The April update does not revolutionize the interface of the OS, but adds some elements of the Fluent Design graphic, for example in the Windows settings section. On the other hand, it strengthens privacy control options with, among other things, the ability to view diagnostic data that is sent to Microsoft.


The most important function of this new version is Timeline (Chronology in French). It records your activity in a history that allows you to return to a task that you have done in the past. For example, it is possible to go back to a Web page browsed in Edge, a drawing created in Paint or a desktop document edited with the Office suite.


How to get it?

The first solution for updating Windows 10 is to use the Windows Update feature of the operating system. To do this, type update in the search box next to the Start button and click Check for Updates in the list of results.


If the search does not succeed, you can retry your chance by clicking the Check for Updates button.

The second method to get the April update is to download the update wizard, available on the Microsoft website. Click the Update Now button, and then click Save if you are using the Edge browser.



Once the download is complete, run the wizard, for example by clicking Run in Edge, and let yourself be guided.


At the end of the installation, the wizard tells you that you have the latest version of Windows 10.
